Background & Inspiration

The project was to create a piece of simple furniture. The focus was learning and using traditional wooden joinery, learning standard production methods, and designing a usable piece. The design phase was extremely brief, most of the time spent was in the woodshop. 

I wanted to design and build a coffee table to the replace the current, broken, one that was in my house. I wanted the table to be:

Sturdy and well-constructed

--> The previous table in my house was broken via falling drunk man​

Low to the ground

--> To accomodate for my house's low furniture and sitting on the floor​

​

Has a lip

--> To prevent spills from immediately running onto the ground
