Background
Bearcat Electric Vehicle is a team at the University of Cincinnati that designs and builds a formula electric vehicle to participate in nationwide Formula SAE Electric competitions. I am a member of the team and was given the role of creative director for the 2025 car's livery. The team placed 16th overall out of 86 teams in the 2025 Formula SAE Electric Competition!
2D Ideation
Making the Livery in Adobe Illustrator
There are rules for the livery provided by SAE international (the organization that runs the competitions) that regulate the size and placement of the vehicle number, school name, and more. There are also constraints around the sponsors, making sure there is a clear hierarchy, etc.
Switch Panel
As a side project I designed a vinyl sticker for the switch panel, ensuring it met all requirements while being cohesive with the rest of the livery. I made a few designs and used a rough mockup of what the car would look like to see what the team and I thought looked best. The design we landed on features the bearcat claw marks (the bearcat is our school mascot).
The Result
The vinyl wrap was printed out by speed pro and the team wrapped the car. The switch panel vinyl sticker was printed at one of our school's facilities, and applied by one of our team members.
